wilderness head cook

Reporting to the WilderNess Director and to the Food Services Manager, and overseeing the WilderNess Assistant Cook, the WilderNess Head Cook is responsible for the planning and preparation of all meals at Ness Lake Bible Camp's satellite camp, WilderNess. Using rustic equipment such as lantern lighting and propane stoves and ovens in a remote cook-shack, he or she will prepare and serve nutritious meals that meet all necessary FoodSafe requirements. Responsibilities include projecting grocery needs and making orders, preparing meals for up to 50 guests three times per day, and preparing food accommodations for guests with dietary restrictions. 

 

The WilderNess Head Cook will be required to hold or obtain his or her FoodSafe certification, as well as a Canadian Pleasure Craft Operator's Card. He or she will hold at least two years of experience in food preparation and service (though a combination of qualifications and experience may be considered as an alternative), and will demonstrate a proven ability to work as a part of a team. Additionally, he or she will be willing to live and work at a rustic site (i.e. without conveniences such as running water), and will be willing to prepare food under such constraints.

This position is in effect from June 21 to August 31.
