wilderness assistant cook

Reporting to the WilderNess Head Cook, the WilderNess Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting the Head Cook in the planning and preparation of all meals at Ness Lake Bible Camp's satellite camp, WilderNess. Using rustic equipment such as lantern lighting and propane stoves and ovens in a remote cook-shack, he or she will assist in the preparation and service of nutritious meals that meet all necessary FoodSafe requirements. Responsibilities include preparing meals for up to 50 guests three times per day, preparing food accommodations for guests with dietary restrictions, and ensuring the cleanliness of the Cook Shack, Dish Pit, and Dining Hall.

The WilderNess Assistant Cook will be required to hold or obtain his or her FoodSafe certification, as well as a Canadian Pleasure Craft Operator's Card. He or she will hold at least two years of experience in food preparation and service (though a combination of qualifications and experience may be considered as an alternative), and will demonstrate a proven ability to work as a part of a team. Additionally, he or she will be willing to live and work at a rustic site (i.e. without conveniences such as running water), and will be willing to prepare food under such constraints.
