WATERFRONT DIRECTOR

Reporting to the Camp Director, the Waterfront Director will assume responsibility for the safe and fun operation of the waterfront. This includes oversight and training of the lifeguard team, acting as a lifeguard, and ensuring maximum supervision of swimmers and close adherence to all NLBC, BC Camping Association, and Lifesaving Society of BC and Yukon policies and requirements at all times. The Waterfront Director will liaise between the Lifesaving Society and NLBC, and will be expected to provide leadership over skills such as Wakeboard and Waterski and the operation of paddle and power watercraft. Finally, he or she will be expected to provide direction to any aquatic or medical emergency occurring in or around the water. 

 

The Waterfront Director will hold a National Lifeguard award from the Lifesaving Society (current at least until the end of the summer), a Canadian Pleasure Craft Operator Card (or will acquire one before the start of his or her position), Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care (current at least until the end of the summer), and will have at least two years of experience as a Lifeguard. The applicant must also demonstrate and maintain adequate physical fitness (ability to perform all required rescues) throughout the duration of his or her role. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in aquatic leadership. The Waterfront Director must be 19 years of age before his or her position begins.

 

 

 

This position is in effect from May 6 to August 31.
