On behalf of Ness Lake Bible Camp

This summer our team at Ness Lake Bible Camp was looking forward to one of our best summers ever because we know that being at camp is one of the best weeks of the year for children.  They not only have a ton of fun, but they make memories they will never forget and their lives are changed forever.

Unfortunately, in order to best ensure the health of our campers and staff, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 summer camp season due to COVID-19.  We are sorry about this and disappointed as well.

This past week we received confirmation from the Provincial Health Authority that overnight camps are not permitted this summer.  We are absolutely committed to the safety of our staff, volunteers and campers and recognize that one of the highest needs is the safety of everyone at camp.  Therefore, we are following the very best health advice.  It’s extremely disappointing to close camp for the summer but we know it’s the right thing to do.

Parents and Guardians of registered campers please check your emails for more information regarding the process of issuing refunds and the options available to you.  Because of the volume of refunds that we will be processing, it may take up to two weeks.  If you haven’t received an email from us by June 8th, please contact the office by email at office@nlbc.bc.ca or call the office at 250-967-4248.  If you have questions please visit our website for answers to a list of frequently asked questions or contact the office manager.

We look forward to enjoying the presence of staff and campers at camp when we can gather together safely again.  We plan to connect with children periodically during the summer at various places.  We also plan to work on projects at camp throughout the summer that we may not be able to with hundreds of campers running around the property.  It is also a time for our property and our full-time staff to take a breather from the rigours of busy summers and year-round guest groups. Almost like leaving a field fallow for a year without planting, some of our full-time staff have worked tirelessly through many summers in a row and will benefit from a slower paced summer season. Until then, we hope to remain connected via our social media platforms.  We’d love to hear from you.  Feel free to let us know how you’re doing.

Finally, please pray for our camp – for the children who will not be able to attend this summer, for the many volunteers who were planning to serve, and for our full-time staff team, navigating Ness Lake Bible Camp through these unprecedented challenges.  We appreciate your prayers and financial support during this uncertain time.  Even though we have made the difficult decision to not run camps this summer, we still have ongoing costs related to the year round planning, maintenance, and administration required to run the camp. We have made every effort to reduce our expenses at this time but we still need your help.

We look forward to re-emerging poised, ready, and willing to serve children and our community again in the near future.

May the Lord continue to be your Refuge and Strength,

Elliott Harder
